Orien is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.  He worked in Banking and Real Estate Development before settling into a 26 year career in property management.  Orien recently relocated to Winston Salem from the suburbs of Washington DC where he worked for 18 years directing the property management of 146 properties totaling over 20 million square feet.

In Orien’s last position he ran the commercial office division of Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) where he directed the property management of 85 properties totaling 8.5 million square feet.  COPT was rated # 1 in the country in customer service for 10 straight years for owners owning over 100 properties.  Prior to COPT Orien worked for Trizec Properties (later bought by Brookfield Properties) as their Vice President of Property Management running their 6 million square foot Washington DC region.  Orien started his career in Property Management with Equity Office Properties (EOP) where he worked for 13 years in four separate markets throughout the southeast progressing from an Assistant Property Manager to Regional Director.

He has been responsible for the management of a diverse portfolio of nationally recognized properties like Reston Town Center in Reston Va., one of the first and most successful Town Centers in the country, the Watergate Office building and 100 Light St., the tallest building in the state of Maryland.  He received a letter of accommodation from Stephen A. Perry, Administrator of the GSA, for his role in moving the wedge of the pentagon hit on 9/11 into a vacant building and getting them up and operational with secure communications in 6 weeks.
